Try to read some books, ebooks or anything that concerns to PHP. Then try installing software that supports PHP and MYSQL.

Even better, switch to ASP.NET and forget about PHP.

Have a rummage around on www.asp.net, especially the video tutorials for total newbies. They take you by the hand all the way from downloading and installing visual studio web edition (free) and SQL Server 2005 Express (free also).

The best place to start is free and you can find it here:
http://www.webmonkey.com/webmonkey/programming/php/

Also http://php.net is a good website for you to study php functions and their uses with examples and lots of valuable code ideas.

First make sure where you stand. The post looked like you were not sure whether you are a beginner or not..

If you are a beginner, start from the PHP manual from PHP.net. Next O'rielly books on PHP5 and PHP CookBook.

Yet, FaceBook.com was written entirely in PHP/MySQL.

2sheena, learn PHP. This is a great object oriented language with has a bright future (AJAX).

How to start? Install XAMPP server and try to get a job as a PHP coder

Learning PHP is not that difficult if you have some programming background
http://php.net is the best place for getting your hands on PHP also you can visit : w3schools.com
There are hundreds of such informative sites and blogs on PHP. Online tutorials are also good source for learning new scripts.
