Hi,
Interesting question actually!
I don't know, even when I've worked on sites that rank well in both Google and Yahoo (well one site out of scores to be honest) I've only got a fraction of the traffic - though in general Yahoo traffic does convert better.
The problem I have with ranking in Yahoo is that for most markets the on-site and off-site optimisation would almost certainly get you penalised in Google.
Also Google has a series of algorithms that just make sense to me whereas the Yahoo algos are much more abitrary.
The other problem I have with optimising for Yahoo is that to me it's like optimising for bronze and I want gold... haha
It is an interesting question though because for some capaigns I'm involved with, even 5-10% of the potential Google traffic for a keyword phrase would be quite lucrative.
What are your thoughts?
Cheers,
Paz.
